April/May News from

First Grade

Mrs. Griswold

June 10th at 5:30 pm the primary grades will be having and Authentic Aussie Night.  We will have a few skits, music, songs, dancing, and a cook on the barbie! All Primary families are invited to attend.  If you are not signed up to bring something to share please bring a side dish or desert.

Upcoming May Events;

May 28 1/2 day of school

May 31 Memorial Day not school

June 18th last day of school 1/2 day

As the school year comes to a close the children will be working to finish up anything that is not yet complete.  They will help to organize the room for the incoming students next year. And we will be working hard on our Australian Unit. Parents should remember that as our year nears completion often children become concerned or anxious about the summer or next year.  This concern often leads to unwanted behavior.  Please feel to let me know if your child experiences any behaviors at home or expresses concerns to you that you would like me to address at school.

B. Fill the bottom of the cage with shavings.

C. Fill one bowl with water and one with grain, put them in the cage.

D. Put a treat in the cage (apple/carrot/lettuce).

Step3.  Buy the Guinea Pig or adopt one from the humane society.

Step 4.  Put the guinea pig in the cage.

Step 5  Every day fill the grain bowl with grain.

Step 6.  Every day change the water in the water bowl.

Step 7.  Every day give him a small treat.

Step 8.   Every day you should gently pick up and hold your guinea pig and pet it

carefully. When you hold it hold it by the bottom, so it feels safe.

Step 9.  Every day you should let the guinea pig walk around on the floor or outside in

the grass to get some exercise.  Be sure to watch him closely!

Step 10.  Once a week dump out all the dirty shavings and replace them with clean ones.

Enjoy your pet!

Today I am going to talk about what I learned in 1st Grade.  I learned how to tell time and read long words.  And I learned how to type.  Today we are learning about Australia.  And how to do problem solving.  Now you know I learned a lot of things.

I learned many things in School.  I learned how to read in school. I learned how to write long words.  I also learned how to tell time.  I learned the difference between states, countries, and continents.  Now you know what I learned in First Grade.

By Miles
