We would like to thank Mr. Davis for another
wonderful Dover School concert.We are

SNACK PROGRAM
Just a reminder that the “Grab and Go” snack
program began this week.If you would
like your child to receive a snack on any given day – send them with a dollar
and they will take it to the kitchen at 9a.m., give it to Jim (our chef), pick
up their snack and take it back to their room.If they are signed up for breakfast, they immediately go down to
breakfast upon arriving at school, have breakfast and return to their
classrooms.The snack program is not
part of the free or reduced program – if you qualify for free or reduced, you
must still remember to bring the $1.00 for snack.If you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to call the school.Also, if
you have ideas to share – healthy snacks your child likes, etc. please share
that will us!
OOPS – HEAD LICE!
We
have heard that head lice is in one of our neighboring schools, and possibly in
our area.Please stress to your children
not to use combs, brushes, hats, headbands, etc. that belong to others.Also, please notify us if you find anything
on your children so we can be on top of things here at school.We will be checking students here
sporadically.Thanks!

BRIDGET GARDNER’S DENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM
On
Monday, Feb. 1st, Bridget Gardner will begin her dental health
program.Forms were attached to the last
newsletter.Bridget will be here for as
many days it takes to clean the teeth of all students who signed up.
REMINDER
Just
a reminder to parents - do not drive up in front of the school to drop/pick up
students (unless you have permission from Mr. Anton).All students should be dropped off or picked
up in the parking lot.Students only
look for busses in this area, so often do not look before bounding into the
driveway to run to their car in the parking lot.Safety is number one – please help keep our
students safe!
NOON RELEASE/NO SCHOOL
On
Feb. 11th students will be released at noon.Lunch will be served prior to dismissal.
Winter break
begins Feb. 22nd.Students
have that week as well as March 1st and 2nd off.March 2nd is Town Meeting.Students will be return to school on March 3rd.On March 11th, there will be a

The Dover School Board will meet Monday
evening, Feb. 1st at 6:30p.m.We wanted to remind parents that they are always welcome to attend these
meetings.They are usually held the
first and third Monday of every month.However, there are times (such as this month) that they could vary.Please see the School Board bulletin board
just inside the school on the right hand side.This is where agendas and board minutes are posted.Agendas always list the date and time of the
meeting.Come join us!

remember to send a note to school if you change your child/children’s end of
the day transportation plans.No student
may automatically go with another student or parent at the end of the day
without written permission.If you plan
to pick your child/children up when they usually take the bus, we prefer you
send a note to school indicating this as well.We realize there are times when plans change during the day.At times like these, phone calls are

BRATTLEBORO AREA MIDLE SCHOOL’S ORIENTATION
– Attention 6th graders …..
Brattleboro
Area Middle School will be holding a 7th grade orientation on
Wednesday, March 10th, from 8a.m. – 10:45a.m.at the school.During this orientation, students will
receive information of 7th grade classes, see what a typical day
looks like, talk with 7th graders, attend two 7th grade
classes and go on a tour.
If you plan to attend, please RSVP by March
2nd by calling the Brattleboro Area Middle School Counseling
Department at 451-3500.If you are going
to attend, please send a note in to school letting us know you will be out that
morning.
EGYPTIAN MUSEUM NIGHT
On
Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, the 4th, 5th and 6th
grades are hosting their Egyptian Museum Night from 6 – 7p.m.All of their work on Ancient Egypt will be on
display.
The PK – 6 Winter Concert will take place at
Dover School on Wednesday, January 27 at 6:30p.m.Songs, dances and instrumental performances
will feature students in all grades and chorus.Mark your calendar and come join us!Students should be here by 6:20p.m. and report directly to their rooms.

For students who would like to get a “grab
and go” snack from the kitchen rather than bring a snack from home – an item is
listed each day on the bi-weekly menu attached to this newsletter.The cost is $1.00.Your child should take their dollar, go to

Remember
– there is no school on Monday, January 18th and Tuesday, January19th.The 18th is Martin Luther King Day
and the 19th is a professional development day for staff.Students will be back in school on

6TH GRADE FUND RAISER –
SNOWMOBILE RAFFLE
The 6th grade class is raffling
off a Ski-doo 550 Freestyle snowmobile!Tickets are $10.00 each.1,000
tickets will hopefully be sold.If
enough tickets are not sold, a 50/50 drawing will be held.The drawing will be held on Friday, Feb. 19th
at 9a.m. at Dover School (Morning Sing).You do not need to be present to win.Tickets will be available at the Winter Concert on Jan. 27th.If you need more information, please call

PRACTICE CRISIS DRILL TO BE HELD
During
the last half of January, we will be holding a practice crisis drill in the
school.It will involve a Natural
Disaster (tornado) and what the students, teachers and staff should do if that
should occur.The teachers will de-brief
with the students after the drill with the assistance of our school counselor,
Michael Italia.Please feel free to talk
to your child about the upcoming drill if you think it necessary to prepare
your child.

YOUTH SERVICES HELPS COMMUNITY CELEBRATE
ARTS ON MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY
Individuals
and groups of all ages from throughout the area are invited to attend Youth
Services’ Community Celebration of the Arts at the River Garden in Brattleboro
on January 18, from 12:30 – 4p.m. as either spectators or performers.The event is open to the public.This is organized by local AmeriCorps members;
the afternoon will feature performers of every kind.“If you are a speaker, band, spoken word
artist, poet, dance troupe, choir or improv group, we want you to come and perform”
explained Shambulia Gadsden Sams, AmeriCorps member at Youth Services, who
added that there will also be Open Mic. For spontaneous performances.“We’re hoping for a good turnout of
performers of every type”, she said.For

·Discussed budget and income for FY2011
·Check technology line item
-If we receive a smart board via grant funds, we
may want see how it is used, etc., prior to purchasing more.
·Board asked Bill to assess how Dover is doing
with technology integration.
·Won’t know state numbers until later on – should
Dover hold off presenting final budget numbers until numbers are known at state
level?
·Discussion followed regarding state’s idea of
merging districts
·Dover needs to prepare for future – “sell” Dover
School to attract students
·Check with Dover Treasurer to see about having
lunch money/bills handled through books, put in budget – reimbursement is now
direct deposit to Treasurer from state.
