TALENT SHOW
The annual Dover School Talent Show will be held on Thursday, April 16th at 8:30a.m. and in the evening at 6:30p.m. The Student Council will be sponsoring a bake sale on that day. In the a.m. there will be bagels and cream cheese!
PARENTS OF ESAP WRITERS
The last day for ESAP writing will be Wednesday, April 29th, NOT Monday, April 27th.
SPRING PICTURES
Spring pictures for students will be Thursday, April 16th in the a.m. If you haven’t sent your form in indicating which background you would like, please do so on Monday. All pictures will be taken, you preview them and either purchase them or send them back to school. No money is paid prior to taking them.
SCHOOL REPORT NIGHT
On May 4th from 6:30p.m. – 7:00p.m., School Report Night will be held. The regular scheduled board meeting will follow at 7p.m.
SPIRIT DAY AT DOVER SCHOOL
The Dover School Student Council would like to announce that they are declaring Friday, April 17th as “Wear Your Clothes Backwards” day! They are hoping that all students join in the fun!
CADET BAND
The Cadet Band will meet to practice for the Spring Concert on Wednesday, April 15th from 3 – 4:15p.m. at the Townshend Elementary School. The Spring Concert will be held Wednesday, May 13th at the Leland and Gray High School gymnasium at 7p.m. This is the date for the Cadet, District and Jazz bands. Black slacks/white shirts are required for students performing in the concert.
LOST AND FOUND
Please stop by and check the lost and found when you are in the school. Much has accumulated! We will also try to have a table set up during Friday Morning Sing so you can check it as well.
MENU/ENVELOPES ATTACHED
Attached to this newsletter is the next breakfast/lunch menu and pre-pay envelope. Please send the envelope with payment to school by Wednesday, April 15th.
READING CHALLENGE NEWS
Mrs. Abarno would like to thank all students, parents and educators who successfully completed the 21st March Reading Challenge. Class and school prizes donated by Windham County Reads and the Dover School Club were given out at an assembly on Tuesday, March 8th. This year our parent involvement doubled!
SCHOOL STORE
The Student Council sells various items to raise funds for their various projects. They sell these items “room to room” on a cart on Tuesday and Thursdays from 8 – 9a.m. Items available are: pencil cases $2.50; pencils $.50; erasers $.75; grips $.75; cap erasers $.15; cheese $.50; pretzel rods 2/$.25; sharpeners $.75 and note pads $.75.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION
We have received the final calendar for the school year 2009 – 2010. We will send one home later on once we have “Dover-ized” it, but so you can mark your calendar – school for Dover will begin Monday, August 31st for students. It was scheduled to begin August 26th, but at the school board meeting Monday evening, April 6th, it was voted to begin August 31st. We will have 4 snow days built in the calendar next year instead of 5.
APRIL BREAK
There will be no school the week of April 20th – spring break. We will be back in school on Monday, April 27th. Let’s hope for sunshine and warmer days!!
SOFTBALL NEWS FROM DEB PARSONS
If any 4th, 5th or 6th grade girls and/or their families are interested in getting together on Sunday afternoons for softball during May and June (per the notice sent home several weeks ago) please call Deb Parsons at 464-0702 before next week and let her know. If not enough interest, the Youth Valley Softball team is looking for a couple more players and Stephanie may be signing up with them.
