PICTURE RETAKE DAY SCHEDULED

If you need your child’s picture retaken, please return the pictures you have and write “retake” on the outside envelope.  On Tuesday, Nov. 25th we will have the photographer here to take students pictures who were absent last time as well as those who need it retaken.  If you need a retake, we must have the entire original package returned to school by Tuesday.

THANKSGIVING BREAK

We want to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving!  Remember, there is no school on Nov. 26, 27 and 28.  We will see you in December!!

SOCCER/BASEBALL UNIFORMS

If you have not returned your sports uniforms, please do so immediately.  You may return them to school and we will get them to the proper people, or you may return all soccer uniforms to Rob Hubert, A-Team baseball shirts to Jeff Fillion and B-Team baseball shirts to Vicki Capitani.

DANCE CLASS OFFER ATTACHED

Attached is paperwork from Mrs. Griswold for an after school program in dance.  If your child is interested, please complete the paperwork and send it back to the school office.  Thanks!

MENU/ENVELOPE ATTACHED

It is hard to believe this menu attached is for weeks in December!  Time certainly flies by!!  Please return the envelope with payment by Tuesday, November 25th.   It is important to get them in on time – our count for the breakfast and lunch program has been way off lately due to envelopes not in on time, and students getting lunch without being signed up.  At times, more lunches have to be made during lunch time, which delays serving.  Students might not receive what is on the menu in such cases due to not preparing correct amounts.

We must also inform you that since breakfast is only .75 cents –  students have a choice of items, but cannot have every item on the menu.  They always receive 1 serving of juice, and have a choice of cereal or the hot item.  Fruit, cheese and crackers are always available.

Just a reminder as well, that if your child does not like the main item at lunch, they may sign up for peanut butter and jelly, just peanut butter, or just jelly.  Just place a “PBJ”, “P”, or “J” in the box on the envelope on the day they prefer this type of sandwich.  These sandwiches need to be ordered ahead of time so they are ready and waiting for the student!  If students are down for the regular lunch, this is what will be served to them.  Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation.

HEAD LICE UP-DATE

Just a reminder - please continue to check your child’s head on a regular basis.  Also, please notify the school if you find “anything” – so we may keep on top of any issues here at school as well.

DRESS WARMLY

There is outside recess even on these cold and blustery days, so please be certain your children have proper outside clothing.  Be certain to mark your child’s initials or name on inside tags of their clothing (coats, boots, mittens, hats, etc.) so if something wanders off we can get it back to the owner.  Some students look very under dressed!

SENIOR MEALS

If you know of any seniors who would like to come to school for senior meals, we are planning the first one on Thursday, Dec. 11th at 11:45a.m.  The cost is $4.00, and they will be seated in the school library.  They should call the school prior to that date to sign up.  The menu will be the same as the students for Dec. 11th.

Other dates will be set if we have the interest.  Pass the word on!

PLANNING AHEAD

Once again, we will hold our annual Holiday Feast in December.  For our new families – this is a day when we have all food donated and everyone has lunch free of charge.  Our menu is turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, green beans, squash, cranberry relish, a variety of breads, a dessert table, coffee, tea, water and milk.  We plan to hold this event on Friday, Dec. 19th this year.  So if you are buying a turkey on sale now and would like to donate one for that day – let Helen Brown know.  We need 5 twenty pound turkey’s total, along with lots of other items.   A list is attached to today’s newsletter for items needed.  If you are willing to stuff and roast your turkey for us, that would be great as well, or if you prefer not to prepare it, we will find someone who could!  If you can purchase and donate any item on the list, please call the school at 464-5386 and we will mark that down.  It’s always a fun time with lots of family, friends and community members joining us.  Mark your calendar so you can join us as well!

BOOK SALE

New books at half price!   Nov. 28 and 29 from 9 – 6, and Nov. 30 from 12 – 5 at Latchis 4, Brattleboro.  This will benefit Windham County Reads!

PARKING LOT “RULES”

Attached to this newsletter is a sketch of our parking lot showing where you should park your car and where you should stop to drop off students.  The Drop Off Zone is only for you to use if you are letting a child/children out of your vehicle and continuing on your way.  The Parking  Area is where you should park if you plan to come into the building, get out of your car, or pick children up after school.

We had a close call with a student – cars were parked in the drop off zone, creating blind spots.  We insist on keeping our children safe, so are asking for your complete cooperation in following the rules.  These rules are to be followed throughout the entire school day – not just early in the morning and dismissal time.

We thought we would put this explanation and sketch in this week’s newsletter especially for our new families who may not know the complete rules, and as a reminder to our families who have been with us previous years.

Again, thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

THANK YOU FROM DOVER SCHOOL CLUB

A heartfelt thank you to Todd Darrah and Janet Picard for their generous coffee donation to the Dover School Club (and to the staff for the staff room).  It is greatly appreciated and enjoyed!

The first meeting of the year will be held November 21st at 8a.m. before morning sing.  Subsequent meetings will be every last Friday morning of the month at 8a.m.

HEAD LICE

We have had some outbreaks of head lice here at school.  We feel we have it under control and think there will no longer be any problems.  However, please check your children frequently for the next 4 weeks.
